NBA Beef Expo 2015 to be in York

The National Beef Association’s 2015 NBA Beef Expo will be held at the York Auction Centre on 23 May 2015 in North Yorkshire. The annual flagship festival of British beef brings together the very best in British commercial and pedigree cattle, equipment, knowledge-sharing, and show classes for everyone involved in the industry. NBA Beef Expo is held at a different venue in the UK each year, regularly attracting international visitors and exhibitors from around UK, this event really is the number one showcase for the British beef sector.

The city of York is a major tourist attraction and Yorkshire has many noted historic sites and beautiful countryside. York Auction Centre was chosen to host the 2015 event because it is at the heart of a renowned cattle finishing area and is a central venue used to handling large shows. The market holds weekly prime stock and store sales and is also a noted centre for machinery sales.

Scott Ferrie, Auctioneer with York Auction Centre and Chairman of NBA Beef Expo 2015 said: “Beef Expo is a tremendous event and we are absolutely honoured to be hosting it in North Yorkshire. We are at the heart of a top beef -producing area, and are looking forward to showing visitors what we do to during the farm tours that play such an important part in the Beef Expo experience. Yorkshire has some of the finest pedigree herds in the country and this gives us a great opportunity to showcase them to the rest of the British beef industry.”

Beef Expo is considered a major showcase for pedigree and commercial breed societies which want to promote the quality of their cattle. It is also the best place to see the fantastic calibre of British beef breeding and genetics all under one roof.  Farmers, exhibitors, agricultural companies and interested members of the public also use the annual event to network, do business and share knowledge, as well as seeing the crème de la crème of British beef cattle.

Chris Mallon, NBA chief executive, said: “It’s always difficult to choose a venue for Beef Expo, because there is so much to take into consideration. We have chosen York Auction Centre because it ticks all the boxes for us: it’s in a great location, close to plenty of fantastic livestock, and will be easy for the thousands of visitors, trade stands and exhibitors to get to for the event. The centre is also experienced at hosting large events like Beef Expo, and we are aiming to build on the success of this year’s event at Hexham Mart in Northumberland, where we have had the biggest ever entry in our livestock classes and welcomed exhibitors from all over the UK.”

Without a doubt, when NBA Beef Expo is held in York next year, it will once again be a tremendous showcase for the Beef Industry.  Through the breed associations, and the prestigious National Spring Spectacular Show some of the UK’s finest pedigree and commercial animals will be on display. It will also provide a platform for the younger generation to showcase their skills, and for exhibitors to provide visitors with the latest information and technology shaping the future of the British beef industry.

International visitors wishing to attend the event will gain free entry and if they wish to see cattle breeding farms as part of their visit, please contact BLG at: livestockgenetics@outlook.com
