The Dairy Event and Livestock Show, Europe’s premier specialist event will
offer comprehensive technical, business and financial information for the entire
ruminant sector at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, UK, on 16 and 17 September.
The two day business to business event organised by the Royal Association of
British Dairy Farmers (RABDF) will be building on its previous successes with
features scheduled to attract more than 460 exhibitors and over 13,000 visitors
including delegations from at least 30 countries.
Practical working demonstrations will include the world’s largest demonstration
of mixer wagons a ‘ride and drive’ tractor initiative for livestock
farmers and a series of specialist diversification and technical exhibitions
will take in a number of new initiatives designed to reconnect the entire food
chain and combine to offer a one-stop service for all visitors. The event will
also feature the first ever workshop for livestock farmers’ wives and
partners providing them with the opportunity to discuss the latest business
topics.
For the second consecutive year, the event will feature all ruminant species;
dairy, beef, sheep and commercial goats, however dairy cattle will remain at
the heart of the event. The competitive classes will attract more than 200 entries
from seven different breeds, while the breeding companies and breed societies
will feature strongly among the exhibitor lines.
“The British option is open to purchase dairy and beef genetics and there
is a vast choice of top quality Holsteins, Ayrshire, British Friesians, Guernsey,
Jersey and beef breeds like Aberdeen Angus and Charolais,” says British
Livestock Genetic Consortium’s Rob Wills. “The event will be promoting
Britain’s superb balance of genetics which is the equal, or better, than
any other major livestock country has to offer. Each breed has been developed
in commercially efficient and environmentally friendly conditions to offer a
combination of production and style with great emphasis on fertility, mobility,
longevity as well as the obvious production traits.”
In addition, a specific exhibition of Britain’s native breeds will focus
on how British cattle, sheep, goats and pigs can provide quality niche products
for the growing market of discerning consumers interested in food, as well as
top restaurateurs.
RABDF’s chief executive, Nick Everington says: “RABDF is acutely
aware that if livestock farmers are to remain competitive worldwide, then it
is essential they continue to improve their technical efficiency. Dairy Event
and Livestock Show offers all visitors the opportunity to discover the latest
technical developments in those key areas, and explore a range of business opportunities,”
says. “The event extends an equally warm welcome to overseas visitors
and the opportunity for business among the industry’s leading players
in a central location.”
The dates for the 2010 event, 7 & 8 September, and a new venue –
the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) at Birmingham - have also been announced
recently.
