The UK's next national beef event, Beef Expo 2010, will return to the north
of England and will be held at Hexham Mart Centre in Northumberland on Thursday,
May 27 with associated farm visits and a conference on Wednesday, 26 May 2010.
The annual event, organised by the National Beef Association and held at a
different venue each year, is the major technical event for the UK beef industry
and attracts thousands of beef producers from all over the country, as well
as from overseas.
"Hexham is an ideal location in the heart of a major suckler beef producing
area which can be easily accessed from both north and south," said event organiser,
Euan Emslie. "The facilities at Hexham Mart are first-class and will provide
an excellent venue for such a major event for the beef industry."
The 2010 event committee will look into a new and exciting programme of activities
to follow the successful format followed in recent years, which will include
an extensive trade stand area, beef breed demonstrations, educational and advisory
exhibits, practical demonstrations of livestock machinery, competitions and
a comprehensive seminar programme.
"We are delighted to be hosting Beef Expo at Hexham Mart and look forward to
welcoming beef producers from all over the country to Northumberland," said
Mr Scott Donaldson who is chairing the local organising committee. Scott is
an auctioneer with the mart and NBA Northern Council member.
This year's Beef Expo was held at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, and
other venues in recent years have included Perth market in 2008, Skipton market
in 2007, Carlisle market in 2006, the Royal Welsh Showground in 2005, the Royal
Highland Centre, Edinburgh in 2004, Thainstone market in Aberdeenshire in 2003
