The Shorthorn Society would like to invite you to the
13th World Shorthorn
Conferencewhich is being held in the home of the Shorthorn - where in the late 18th Century,
two brothers Charles and Robert Colling, started to improve these Durham cattle
using line breeding techniques established so successfully by Robert Bakewell
on Longhorn cattle.
You will be able to see the best of British Shorthorns being judged at two of
the most famous Agricultural Shows in the United Kingdom – starting with
the
Royal Highland Show on 23 June 2010 and then the
Royal
Show in early July, where breeders compete for the most prestigious
of prize in the Shorthorn world, the magnificent Colling Brothers Trophy, seen
here being presented to Mark Holmes, winner in 2007 and 2008.
In between the two shows you will tour the British Isles from Edinburgh to
Stratford upon Avon, sampling both the sights and sounds and visiting some
fantastic Beef and Dairy herds. See the website for the details of the draft
itinerary. The conclusion is the Conference itself will take place in the heart
of Shakespeare country at Stratford upon Avon on 9-10 July 2010.
