JSR has signed a new deal with the Japanese Corporation Marubeni who have responsibility for the JSR franchise in Japan, operating under the Cotswold Japan Subsidiary (CWJ).
Building on their strong reputation in the Japanese market, Mr Shiraishi, President of CWJ, believes that demand for the 'Platinum' parent will continue to grow. This means more investment in high health animals at Nucleus level. "We have worked with JSR for 15 years" said Mr Shiraishi "and we are pleased to commit ourselves to continued growth within the terms of the new contract. This means incorporating the highly prolific JSR Large Whites into the Nucleus programme to ensure our customers have the most productive genetics available to them to meet the growing demand for quality pork."
The deal will bring JSR Large White genetics into Japan for the first time, providing local Multiplier farms with the ability to deliver a more prolific parent gilt. "We are delighted to have strengthened our presence in Japan and in particular with CWJ" commented JSR Chairman Tim Rymer, following the signing ceremony. "Our Genetic Improvement programme is allowing us to tailor traits and selection objectives to meet the requirements of specific markets. However the real strength is providing in depth technical support on the ground to make sure the CWJ Nucleus units, Multipliers and customers get the best out of these exceptional genetics."
The supply of technical support and pure lines to global partners ensures the JSR name is synonymous with quality pig genetics across four continents. The Genepacker gilt range and the Titan and Duroc terrminal sires remain identifiable the world over. JSR Genetics continues to develop a number of highly successful partnerships within the pigmeat supply chain as part of its competitive strategy to ensure that its customers remain successful in the rapidly changing market place within a global industry.
