The Luing Cattle Society is very pleased to announce the appointment of Johnny Mackey to take over as Secretary from 1st September.
Johnny brings a wealth of experience to a Society which is expanding at a huge rate - the number of breeders registering cattle has risen by over 200% in the last seven years, the number of heifers registered annually has more than doubled as have the number of active females held on the Society's database.
At a time when the Luing Society is looking to send a clear message that they are addressing health issues, cow classification and EBVs as well as keeping a close brief on beef eating quality, the Directors are delighted to have attracted someone already so highly regarded in the beef industry. Johnny has come via QMS and NFUS and is keen to focus on commercial beef production in a position that will allow him a little more time to keep an eye on his own small farm on the edge of Blairgowrie where he currently runs a commercial herd of 30 suckler cows.
