A new AI company has just been launched called Sterling Sires Ltd. Committed to the company’s moto “Great cows are profitable cows” Sterling Sires will source genetics from the UK and around the world.

The company is owned and managed by Paul & Kirsty Westaway - Paul has extensive experience of the UK AI industry having worked previously for both Supersires and Genus ABS. Today Paul and Kirsty run two farms in Dymock, Gloucestershire trading as Melview Farming; Sterling Sires will be run from the farm.

Commenting on the company’s launch Paul said “I am a great believer in British Cattle and the breeders in this country, we will be progeny testing bulls in the UK from the best cow families from both here and abroad. One of the first bulls we will sample will be Kellywell Picasso, a Holstein bull born in Cumbria but with an incredible, globally popular, pedigree.”
Sterling Sires has a wide selection of proven Holstein bulls including Gen-I-Beq Bolton, the Champion brother to Goldwyn with +2.8 UK Type and Comestar Outback who, as well as great type (+2.6), has huge lifespan (+0.5), super fertility Index (+4.7) and a breed leading scc (-25%).

Sterling Sires also has a good selection of other dairy breeds including British Friesian together with an extensive stud of British Beef bulls.

“As a farmers ourselves, we know that breeders expect exceptional products to be coupled with great customer service and value for money” comments Paul “Sterling Sires will be a company that tries to excel in these areas.”
