New Genus ABS appointments in Europe and UK

Two new appointments have recently been made at Genus ABS: Rob Holliday has taken the role of Regional Director of Bovine Europe and Stuart MacLennan has been appointed as General Manager for the UK.

Rob Holliday started his career with the company over 25 years ago, originating from a dairy farm in Cumbria, North West England. After graduating from Newcastle University in 1978 he lectured at the West of Scotland Agricultural College in Animal Production. In 1984 he joined the consultancy division of the MMB (forerunner to Genus) as a consultant in the Shropshire area. Since then he has held a variety of roles in the Genus business before taking a role in Australia on a six-month secondment to integrate a newly acquired business into ABS Australia. For the last six years Mr Holliday has held the role of Managing Director of Promar International, a division of Genus plc.

Mr Holliday comments, “I am delighted to take on this new role as Director of the cattle breeding business in Europe. These are challenging times for the dairy industry but this provides exciting opportunities and I look forward to help the growth of a very successful business.”

Stuart MacLennan first joined Genus after leaving the Scottish Agricultural College. His first appointment was as a trainee consultant in Cumbria for the consultancy division of Genus plc, shortly after he was promoted to a Regional Consultant for the North of England. He started his career within the breeding business in 2004 when he became a Key Accounts Manager. After gaining extensive skills in a sales environment, Mr MacLennan took on the role Business Unit Director for the North. He has now taken on the new position of General Manager for Genus ABS in the UK.

Mr MacLennan comments, “I am thrilled to take this exciting and challenging role as General Manager for the UK. As a people business a lot of my focus will be about developing the very capable talent pool to help farm businesses grow their profitability. My challenges for the future are about delivering the best products and services to a market that has to live with increased volatility in commodity and market prices.
