British Friesians make their mark
British Friesians have now got their own unique identifying
breed code in the UK. This means that they are identified as being separate
from Holsteins [although they are part of Holstein UK] and from now their
performance can be assessed on their own merits.
For details, please go to the Holstein UK website (
www.holstein-uk.org) and on the first page click on ANIMAL DATA, then
click on FRIESIAN and you will find the information that you will need.
Cogent's bull Blackisle Glen Albyn has hit the top spot
in the newly published inaugural British Friesian bull proofs - his pedigree
traces back to the famous Hunday herd - see www.cogentuk.com and Genus
[ABS] also have a good selection of bulls - contact via www.genusbreeding.com

And British Holsteins/Friesians travel
High global demand for British dairy genetics has lead
to the export of semen from 10 proven Holstein bulls by Genus Breeding
to 26 countries in the last year. There has also been a corresponding
huge increase in the demand for young British Holstein sires with semen
from 21 bulls exported worldwide in 2004, a big increase on 2003
