The expected return of English Quality beef
and British cattle to export markets was also a topic for discussion
as buyers looked ahead to the the end of the Over Thirty Month Rule
and Date Based Export Scheme. There was strong interest in a feature
of Highland cattle which augers well for future interest in cattle
from Britain, of all breeds.
Richard Ali, EBLEX Chief Executive, said: "A
vital part of the Show was to talk to as many importers as we could
about the future possibilities for English Quality beef.
"Our lamb exports to France are already extremely
important to us and, although we do not yet have firm dates for
the lifting of restrictions on beef, France has also traditionally
been our most important market for exporting beef."
